Advanced Practitioner – Child Assessment Team

£52,674 to £55,710 (PO5) + £2,500 retention allowance

Our client, a forward-thinking local authority, is seeking an experienced Advanced Practitioner to support the management of a busy Child Assessment Team within its Children’s Social Care services.

The role

Working alongside the Team Manager, you will:

  • Support a team of six social workers (including one ASYE)

  • Oversee duty week every five weeks

  • Lead on case allocations and chair strategy meetings

  • Ensure child and family assessments, s47 enquiries and visits are completed on time

  • Monitor and support performance across the team

  • Provide ad-hoc and group supervision

  • Carry a small caseload of complex cases

  • Participate in monthly operational audits

This role is ideal for a compassionate and resilient practitioner with:

  • Strong frontline experience in statutory children’s services

  • Deep understanding of child development, trauma, and safeguarding

  • Up-to-date knowledge of legislation and guidance, including the Children Acts

  • Confidence supporting and supervising others

  • A commitment to improving practice and modelling excellence

  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills
